TELEMATICS INTERNATIONAL APPOINTS MALCOLM DUCKETT AS DIRECTOR OF NEXT GENERATION MARKETING; PRODUCT LINE BASED ON ATM TECHNOLOGY

 FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Telematics International, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: TMAX), announced today the appointment of Malcolm Duckett as director of next generation marketing.
 Throughout his seven-year career with the company, Mr. Duckett has held a number of sales, marketing and management positions at Telematics, most recently European marketing director.
 Product and Program Management
 In his new role, Mr. Duckett will be responsible for program and product management of the company's next generation network product line based on ATM technology.
 The product line -- NCX -- realizes Telematics' vision of the next generation of Subscriber Oriented(TM) networking solutions. The NCX product line covers the full spectrum of backbone, access and adaption functions, and will offer ATM technology at TDM prices.
 Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Duckett said, "We are focusing our efforts on network service providers worldwide and building NCX with their strategic needs in mind. NCX is a unique approach to meeting the needs of the public and private network service providers who will enable the use of subscriber oriented networking techniques in building the multi-media networks of tomorrow."
 Prior to joining Telematics, Mr. Duckett spent two years with ISSCO Computer Graphics as technical product manager, 6-1/2 years with Shell Research, Ltd., and 6-1/2 years with Shell UK Computing Services, Ltd.
 Telematics designs, manufactures and markets products for voice and data communication applications and networks. It provides a full range of frame relay products under the NFX brand name, including frame relay switches, concentrators and access devices called FRADs. Telematics' NET25(R), SmartNet(R) and Digital Wideband Networks include a complete line of wide area networking products designed specifically for voice and data communications applications and networks. This includes a full range of programmable packet switching systems, frame relay systems, access communications processors and T1/E1 networking multiplexers. Telematics, headquartered in Ft. Lauderdale, has approximately 360 employees worldwide with facilities in five U.S. locations; Basingstoke, England; Frankfurt, Germany; and Paris, France.
