TELEDYNE INC. SUPPORTS NAFTA

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to numerous inquiries, Teledyne Inc. (NYSE: TDY) has issued the following public statement regarding the proposed North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which will be voted on by the House and Senate in November:
Teledyne Inc. is a manufacturing company serving a broad range of markets in the U.S. and abroad. Teledyne has 81 manufacturing plants in 24 states. Teledyne supports the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) because it believes its businesses and most others in the U.S. will benefit from economic development in Mexico, and freer trade in general.
Opponents of NAFTA argue that the kinds of jobs Teledyne provides are most at risk were NAFTA to be enacted. Teledyne believes these arguments are unfounded. To the contrary, Teledyne expects to see increased opportunities for its U.S.-based companies.
Businesses operate in a global economy today. American companies can compete effectively in this global marketplace, and the number and quality of U.S. jobs will benefit from having trade barriers reduced or removed in other countries.
