TELECOMMUNICATION INDUSTRY EXECUTIVENAMED PRESIDENT, COO OF NEW MOBILE RADIO COMPANY

SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- A well-known cellular industry executive has been named president and chief operating officer of what will be one of the largest specialized mobile radio (SMR) companies in the western United States.
Robert J. Marino will be responsible, effective Oct. 4, for daily operations of the company that is being created through the merger of Questar Telecom Inc. (QTI) and the western operations of Advanced MobileComm Inc. (AMI). QTI is a subsidiary of Salt Lake City-based Questar Corp. (NYSE: STR) while AMI is the new-business development unit of Fidelity Investments of Boston.
Marino also will oversee development of the company's enhanced SMR services -- including cellular mobile phone, paging and two-way dispatch -- in 10 western states with a combined population of approximately 22 million.
N.R. Potter, chairman and chief executive officer of the new company, said Marino "is recognized in the industry for directing the successful growth and development of cellular telephone and telecommunication businesses."
Marino previously was president and general manager of the Houston Cellular Telephone Co., a partnership of McCaw Cellular Communications and BellSouth Cellular Corp. Houston Cellular serves the 10th largest cellular market in the United States and is estimated to have more than 125,000 subscribers.
Prior to joining Houston Cellular, he was president and chief executive officer from 1988 to 1990 of Movicom in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Movicom began operation in 1988 as a start-up partnership between American and Argentine companies holding the cellular license for Buenos Aires-based Compania de Radio Communications.
From 1982 to 1988 Marino was president of United TeleSpectrum Inc., a United Telecom Inc. subsidiary responsible for the integration of cellular and paging services throughout the United States.
