TELECOM CORPORATION ANNOUNCES SECOND QUARTER REVENUES

TELECOM CORPORATION ANNOUNCES SECOND QUARTER REVENUES
DALLAS, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- TeleCom Corporation (NYSE: TEL) today

reported net income of $528,000 ($0.14 per share) on revenues of $19.1 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 1992, as compared to net income of $216,000 ($0.06 per share) with revenues of $15.2 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 1991.
The improvement in the results for the second quarter reflect higher gross profit earned on the increased revenue offset by higher selling, general and administrative expenses. The revenue increase reflects a $1.4 million increase in manufacturing revenue and a $2.5 million increase in wholesale distribution revenue. An improved economic climate has strengthened demand for equipment manufactured by MEYER Group of companies. Improved customer service, aggressive marketing and competitive pricing has allowed Comfort Supply to secure new dealers as well as increase sales to established customers. Allen-Lewis' revenue remained constant in the second quarter of 1992 as compared to 1991.
For the six months ended June 30, 1992, TeleCom Corporation reported net income of $225,000 ($0.06 per share) with revenues of $31.0 million compared to net income of $738,000 ($0.20 per share) with revenues of $28.0 million for the same period in 1991. The results for 1991 reflect the following items: (1) income before extraordinary item of $334,000 ($0.09 per share); and (2) an extraordinary gain, net of tax, on forgiveness of debt of $404,000 ($0.11 per share).
For the six months ended June 30, 1992, results as compared to the same period in 1991 were down primarily due to an additional loss of $100,000 resulting from the resolution of a dispute over certain purchase price adjustments related to the sale of Meyer Conveyair which occurred in 1991. Also, in 1991, an extraordinary gain on forgiveness of debt was recorded which did not reoccur in 1992.
TeleCom Corporation has interests in the manufacture of specialized conveying and processing equipment primarily for the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries and in the wholesale distribution of air conditioning and heating products, as well as souvenir, novelty and gift items.
