TELECHECK TESTING CHECK SERVICE FOR FORSYTH ABC BOARD

 CHARLOTTE, N.C., Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- TeleCheck Services, Inc., the world's leading check acceptance company, is providing check guarantee services to four Forsyth Municipal Alcoholic Beverage Control Board stores as part of a Forsyth ABC Board test to determine if check writing is a convenience customers want.
 "The Forsyth ABC Board has an obligation to see that the interests of both the customers and the municipality are served. Since today's customers are accustomed to shopping by check, it seems only reasonable to provide them with the same convenience they receive elsewhere," said Calvin McDougal, Forsyth ABC Board Administrator.
 The four test sites include two stores in Winston-Salem -- one on Country Club Road and one on Peter's Creek Parkway -- plus the stores in Clemmons and Kernersville. "If customers respond favorably to the service, we will consider installing the capability in all stores," McDougal added. The 90 day test began September 21.
 With the test sites, the Forsyth ABC Board becomes the first system in the state of North Carolina to routinely accept personal checks without pre-approval of the check by ABC officials.
 According to Thomas LaGrasso, area manager for TeleCheck in Charlotte, customers will be able to write a check simply by showing a valid U.S. driver's license, state-issued ID or military ID. "TeleCheck's check guarantee service will help protect the municipality and the public's interest by preventing any loss from bad checks," LaGrasso explained.
