TEKTRONIX NAMES PERKEL VICE PRESIDENT, NETWORK DISPLAYS DIVISION

 WILSONVILLE, Ore., Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Tektronix Inc. (NYSE: TEK) today announced that it has promoted Gerald K. Perkel, 37, to vice president of the company's Network Display Division (NWD). Perkel, who had been serving as general manager of the operation, continues to report to Delbert Yocam, Tektronix president and chief operating officer.
 In his role, Perkel is responsible for directing the company's X terminal business.
 "The Network Display Division has developed a world class X terminal product family that gives Tektronix an advantage in manufacturability and quality. Thanks to Gerry and his team, we continue to win major accounts and increase market share in a highly competitive market," Yocam said. "Going forward, we believe our X terminal business has the potential for sustained growth."
 Perkel has held management positions of increasing responsibility in his 13 years at Tektronix. Previous posts include director of marketing, Interactive Technology Division; director of sales and marketing, Visual Systems Group; and general manager of the Network Display Products Operation.
 He received a bachelor of science degree in engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles.
 Tektronix is a leading manufacturer of electronics products and television systems in areas of test and measurement, computer graphics and television systems. Revenues in fiscal 1993 were $1.3 billion. Tektronix employed 9,840 people at year end. The company is headquartered in Wilsonville and has operations worldwide.
