TEENAGER BETH HITS TOP NOTE AS NEW FACE OF MUSIC FESTIVAL.

TEENAGE singer songwriter Beth Macari has been chosen as the face of the resurrected Stanley Music Festival. The 19-year-old singer from Gateshead will be among the performers at the family event in August that hopes to revive the Stanley Blues Festival and turn it into a major event in the regional music calendar.

Stanley Events are staging the show on August 26 at Oakeys Field.

Neil Bankhirst, a director, and owner of the Music Pod in Consett, said "We hope people from across the region support it and our aim is to make this a prominent annual event on the music calendar."

Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash top the bill and - along with Beth - the support acts are DeeExpus, The Floyd Effect, Howaysis and Dust Town Dogs.

The festival has children's rides and free activities. Admission is pounds 3 (pounds 2.50 in advance) and tickets are available from The Lamplight Box Office on 01207 218899.
