TECHNOPHONE'S PC 305 AND TD 800 CELLULAR PHONES NOW PRODUCED EXCLUSIVELY IN U.S. FACTORY

MELBOURNE, Fla., April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Technophone Corporation announced today the manufacture and distribution of their PC 305 analog handheld and TD 800 analog/digital mobile cellular model telephones are now exclusively handled within the United States via a new company factory located in Fort Worth, Texas.
The new facility is the result of a joint venture between Nokia Mobile Phones of Finland (Technophone's parent company) and Tandy Corporation (NYSE: TAN). The facility's purpose is to produce products domestically to better serve the increasing demand for cellular phones in the United States and aid in the export of products to both Canada and Latin America.
"U.S. production of Technophone equipment just makes sense," noted Technophone President Larry Paulson. "Our primary goal is to meet customer needs, and having a domestic factory assures heavy production demands are met on schedule and overall costs are reduced."
Paulson also commented, "In addition to the PC 305 and TD 800 models, various new Technophone products slated for release later this year and in 1994 are scheduled to be built in the U.S."
Technophone Corporation is a unit of Nokia Mobile Phones. Nokia Mobile Phones is a business group of the Finland-based Nokia Group, a European technology company with annual sales of nearly $4 billion, operations in 38 counties and cellular sales in more than 60 nations. Nokia Mobile Phone's primary line of business is the development, manufacture and marketing of cellular phones worldwide.
Nokia Mobile Phones, marketed under the Nokia, Technophone, Mobira and OEM labels, is the world's second largest manufacturer of cellular telephones.
