TEAMS FROM HONDA OF AMERICA AND WRIGHT TOOL COMPANY CAPTURE STATE'S HIGHEST MANUFACTURING AWARD AT OMA COMPETITION

 CLEVELAND, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Problem-solving teams from Honda of America Mfg., Inc., Marysville, and The Wright Tool Company, Barberton, have captured the state's highest manufacturing award -- The Governor's Award for Team Excellence in Manufacturing.
 The teams were awarded the honor by Ohio Gov. George V. Voinovich during The Ohio Manufacturers' Association's 1993 Leadership Forum, last night in Cleveland. The Forum features the finals of The Ohio Manufacturers' Association's Case Studies in Team Excellence(SM) competition.
 The "Energy Slashers" team from the Honda of America Mfg., Inc., East Liberty Auto Plant captured the top honor in the Large Plant Division for companies employing more than 500 employees. The "PAC RATS" team from The Wright Tool Co., Barberton, won the honor in the competition's Small Plant Division for companies employing 500 or fewer employees.
 "Teamwork is becoming part of Ohio's new manufacturing tradition," Gov. Voinovich said during remarks at the Victory Banquet, which was attended by more than 600 people from all levels of manufacturing from across Ohio. "These teams of manufacturing employees are using teamwork and innovation to begin a tradition of exceeding their customers' expectations and making their companies even more competitive."
 The "Energy Slashers" team is comprised of four maintenance associates from the Honda of America East Liberty Auto Plant Paint Department who captured their award for a presentation on reducing energy costs.
 "PAC RATS," the team from The Wright Tool Company, is a cross- functional team that improved safety and organization of files through employee participation.
 The Ohio Manufacturers' Association's Leadership Forum and Case Studies in Team Excellence are underwritten by The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., The Timken Company, General Electric, Honda of America Mfg., Inc., Huffy Corporation, Midmark Corporation, MTD Products and Rubbermaid, Inc.
