TEAMQUEST ANNOUNCES AVAILABILITY OF CAPACITY MANAGEMENT FACILITY BASELINE 5.1

CLEAR LAKE, Iowa, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- TeamQuest Corporation has announced the immediate availability of Capacity Management Facility Baseline 5.1 for Cray Research, Inc. systems running the UNICOS operating system. CMF.Baseline 5.1 provides users, as well as Cray Research field analysts, a comprehensive client/server-based performance analysis and capacity planning package. CMF.Baseline 5.1 allows users to collect system performance and process data by workload and store the data in a historical database for trend analysis.
TeamQuest Corporation, an industry leader in computer system performance and capacity management, supplies software and services to Fortune 500 companies and has thousands of customers worldwide.
The architectural strength of CMF.Baseline led to the teaming of TeamQuest and Cray Research to offer System Performance Services through all of Cray's field sales representatives worldwide. Cray Research's marketing division and benchmark center have begun using CMF.Baseline 5.1 to support these new performance services and, according to Bruce Lichty, Director of Cray's Customer Integrated Solutions group, "That combination delivers customers an unrivaled ability to monitor, analyze, and support its supercomputing usage."
Robert Krieger, president of TeamQuest said, "We are extremely proud that Cray Research has chosen our product suite as the basis for it's new services offerings. We are pleased to offer the Cray Research users the same complete, integrated system performance analysis and modeling capability that we offer our clients on other platforms."
Additional features of CMF.Baseline include the ability for users to define alarms and thresholds, correlate performance parameters to help find cause/effect relationships, and easily graph system and process utilization trends, by devices and by workloads. The CMF.Baseline user interface is available under X Windows on Sun workstations as well as under MS Windows on a PC.
The design of the CMF suite of products allows easy porting of the software to new platforms. In addition to Cray Research systems, CMF.Baseline 5.1 offers consistent performance analysis tools across a variety of system types including Sun SPARC-based systems running Solaris 1 or Solaris 2, Unisys U6000, Unisys 2200 Series, and Unisys A Series. CMF.Baseline 5.1 will soon be available for Convex Computer Corporation systems.
Terry Cobb, vice president of marketing and services said, "Our Cray customers are very excited to learn that multiple machine architectures can all be monitored and analyzed through a single user interface. As system performance management needs continue to rise and staffing levels continue to drop, the value of consistent analysis software across multiple systems grows quickly."
