Byline: By RICHARD SMITHA TEACHER took a schoolgirl back to his home and filmed them having sex on his mobile phone.
Married Brett Caldwell, 42, who has a two-year-old daughter, initially rejected the girl's advances.
But, a court heard, he "gave in to temptation" after she sent him a series of text messages and pictures of herself.
The 42-year-old PE teacher took her back to his home where they had consensual sex.
Caldwell recorded it on his mobile phone and later photographed the girl topless.
But a few weeks later the girl, who was 16 at the time, told her parents and Caldwell was arrested and suspended from his job.
Police found several pictures of the naked teenager on his mobile phone and a recording of their romp.
At Portsmouth crown court, Caldwell from Locks Heath, Hants, admitted one charge of sexual activity with a child, two of taking indecent pictures of children and 12 charges of possessing indecent images of children.
Judge Ian Pearson described him as a "weak man" and spared him from jail by imposing a 12-month suspended sentence.
The court heard that Caldwell's wife has decided to stand by him and had been "very supportive and forgiving".
James Newton-Price, defending, said of the girl's advances: "His initial reaction was that he should have nothing to do with it and he took the responsible approach.
"But he gave way to temptation. It has ruined what would have been and what was a perfectly good career." Caldwell, who was ordered to pay pounds 800 costs, sobbed and held his head in his hands as the facts of the case were read out in court.
He slumped in his chair in the dock as the judge told him his jail sentence would be suspended.
He will be put on the sex offenders register and List 99 - a register of people barred from working with children in education in England and Wales.
