TDMA TECHNOLOGY CONTINUES TO RECEIVE INDUSTRY SUPPORT

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) technology continues to receive endorsement from cellular industry manufacturers with AT&T's announcement of its intention to produce TDMA chip sets.
Rockwell International Corporation also intends to make TDMA chip sets. InterDigital Communications Corporation's (AMEX: IDC) TDMA technology is the basis of the cellular industry transmission standard, IS-54.
"We are pleased to see more and more major companies announcing their intentions to make TDMA digital cellular products," said David L. Smith, vice president of administration and communications for InterDigital. "When the selection process for the transmission standard began, we proved to the industry that TDMA would provide superior digital communications, call privacy and spectrum efficiency. We also agreed to license the technology to all manufacturers at a reasonable rate. These negotiations are ongoing and we will announce license agreements when or if the deals are signed."
Smith continued, "TDMA technology is currently being deployed in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Latin America, Europe and Japan. The real winner will be the consumer who will now have the same high-quality phone service in their car that they have always had in their homes."
InterDigital is a pioneer in TDMA and Broadband Code Division Multiple Access (B-CDMA) technology and products. InterDigital has a portfolio of more than 50 U.S. patents and 450 foreign patents covering TDMA, CDMA and other wireless technology. Its Ultraphone(R) TDMA digital radiotelephone system is ordered for or installed in more than 175 locations worldwide.
