TeleCommunication Systems Inc (TCS)(Nasdaq:TSYS), a provider of secure mobile communication technology, and the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) announced yesterday that NCTCOG has awarded TCS a three-year contract to supply Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) systems and services.
Financial details of the contract were not available.
TCS said that NCTCOG's emergency services network will comply fully with the National Emergency Number Association's (NENA) i3 standards.
The TCS NENA i3-based solution includes components that will enable public safety access points to support future emergency requests. This solution is expected to be one of the largest NENA i3-compliant Next Generation 9-1-1 systems, as measured by population, in the US.
