 TCI OF PENNSYLVANIA PITTSBURGH SYSTEM RECEIVES
 CABLE INDUSTRY SEAL FOR GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE
 PITTSBURGH, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The City of Pittsburgh system of TCI of Pennsylvania, Inc., announced today that it has been awarded the Seal of Good Customer Service from the cable television industry's leading trade organization, the National Cable Television Association (NCTA).
 The seal recognizes the efforts of the Pittsburgh system in providing ongoing high quality services to its approximately 102,000 customers.
 "Our system has grown rapidly, and as any smart business, we see the value of providing responsive service to our customers," said Shawn M. McGorry, general manager of the Pittsburgh system. "We've worked hard to resolve customer service problems quickly and effectively. While we cannot claim 100 percent satisfaction, this industry award signals that we're moving in the right direction."
 The NCTA Seal of Good Customer Service is awarded to cable systems meeting rigorous industry-wide customer service standards, including:
 -- Answering phone calls within 30 seconds, under normal operating conditions;
 -- Completing standard installations within seven business days after orders have been placed;
 -- Responding to service interruptions within 24 hours, excluding situations beyond the operator's control;
 -- Providing customers with monthly bills that are clear, concise and understandable; and
 -- Providing new customers with comprehensive information kits about their cable service.
 Meeting the standards set by NCTA also satisfies a requirement set forth by Tele-Communications, Inc., for all its systems, as part of its Customer 1st Program. Introduced in the spring of 1990, the standards include 33 points that address a range of customer service elements, including office and telephone availability, installation, outages, service calls, customer communications, bills and refunds.
 "I'd like to salute our employees for their fine work, and at the same time, recognize our customers for their consistent support," McGorry said. "Just as cable customers demand the best in television programming, they have the right to expect prompt, reliable service. Our industry has established standards to make that happen."
 TCI of Pennsylvania serves approximately 500,000 customers in the commonwealth.
