TCI COMMUNICATIONS NAMES COLLEEN ABDOULAH VICE PRESIDENT OF MARKETING FOR DIGITAL TV

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- TCI Communications, Inc., an operating unit of Tele-Communications Inc. (TCI), announced today it has named Colleen Abdoulah to the newly created position of Vice President of Marketing for the company's Digital TV business unit. Having joined TCI corporate in 1993, Ms. Abdoulah will be leaving her position of VP of Marketing and New Business Development for TCI's core cable business to concentrate on the launch and successful delivery of TCI's digital product. Ms. Abdoulah will be reporting to Camille Jayne, Senior Vice President of Digital TV for TCI Communications, Inc.

Ms. Abdoulah will be responsible for the product development and market implementation of all digital cable video products into the consumer and commercial marketplace. This will encompass all product content, pricing, packaging, promotion and advertising, market selection, retail and field distribution channel execution, and direction of training for in-bound sales, out-bound telemarketing, and field installation. As leader of the marketing efforts for Digital TV, Ms. Abdoulah will be adding a Director of Base Product Development and a Director of New Product Development to her team shortly.

Beginning her cable industry career in 1984, Ms. Abdoulah has served as Director of Marketing for WestMarc Cable Group, Inc.; Vice President and General Manager for Netlink; and Vice President of TCI Cable Management Corporation. Continuing her commitment to the cable industry, she currently serves as Vice President for the Executive Board of Women in Cable and Telecommunications.

To lead the marketing efforts for the core cable business, Diane Vertovec, Director of Cable Marketing, will report directly to Barry Marshall, Executive Vice President and COO of TCI Communications, Inc. Ms. Vertovec will oversee the strategic direction and execution of the marketing initiatives with both corporate and field marketing teams.
