A new enterprise content management system from computer company IBM (NYSE:IBM) has been selected by Texas County and District Retirement System (TCDRS), in the US, to bring millions of records online and provide pension fund members and customer service representatives with real-time access to pension and retirement information.

TCDRS digitised all its customer account information and is electronically capturing new documents for a USD17bn statewide public-employee retirement system, serving over 180,000 active, retired and former employees of participating Texas counties and districts. It is working to help ensure compliance and business continuity, improve the storage and archiving of retirement benefits information and better support for customers.

The new enterprise content management system is built on IBM FileNet P8 Content Management software and will serve as the basis for a new advanced retirement system architecture, to improve services for customers and boost operational efficiency.

TCDRS has converted more than 4m pages of paper files into electronic images, enabling them to be easily stored, backed up and retrieved, while simplifying the jobs of customer service personnel and improving business processes. IBM FileNet Business Process Framework is being used to design enhanced electronic workflow and case management capabilities.
