 TAURUS EXPLORATION ANNOUNCES NEW APPOINTMENTS
 BIRMINGHAM, Ala., March 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Three people have been


named to new positions by Taurus Exploration, Inc.'s board of directors.
 The announcement was made by Mike Warren, president and chief operating officer.
 The new appointments are John A. Wallace, senior vice president - methane; Wendell M. Beavers, vice president - business development; and Holley S. LaGrone, controller.
 Wallace was previously vice president - methane exploration and production. "John Wallace is recognized as a pioneer in the development of technology for coalbed methane production. In his new position, he will concentrate on operations and consulting efforts in Alabama and outside the state," said Warren.
 Wallace is chairman of the Coalbed Methane Association of Alabama, is serving as a 1991 Distinguished Lecturer for the Society of Petroleum Engineers and is a director of the Appalachian Coalbed Methane Association. He joined Taurus in 1986 following a 19-year affiliation with USX Corporation, where he was the original project engineer for a research program to extract methane from coalbeds. He holds a B.S. in chemical engineering from Grove City College in Grove City, Pa.
 Beavers, who was previously general manager - methane exploration, is responsible for exploration efforts and for marketing Taurus' consulting and operating services. He holds M.S. and B.S. degrees in geology from the University of Alabama and has been with Taurus since 1986.
 LaGrone, who joined Energen Corporation in 1981 as a senior auditor for Alagasco, was previously director - finance and accounting for Taurus. She holds a B.S. in accounting from Auburn University and is a certified public accountant. She previously worked for Ernst and Young. LaGrone serves on the board of directors of the Exchange Club of Birmingham and is director of the Petroleum Accounting Society of Mississippi.
 "We are positioning ourselves to meet the challenges of doing business for the remainder of 1992 and beyond," said Warren. "These changes will help Taurus as we look for additional development, consulting and operating opportunities in Alabama as well as in other parts of the United States and the world."
 The largest producer of coalbed methane in Alabama, Taurus is the oil and gas exploration and production subsidiary of Energen Corporation (NYSE: EGN), which is based in Birmingham, Ala.
