 TATE & LYLE ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE APPOINTMENTS
 NEW YORK, Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Tate & Lyle PLC announced today


that Edward Makin has been appointed president and chief executive officer of its Domino Sugar Corporation subsidiary, effective Jan. 1, 1992. Makin, 40, presently serves as president of Redpath Sugars, another Tate & Lyle subsidiary, based in Toronto, Canada.
 Makin has been associated with Redpath Sugars for 19 years, and prior to his current position, served as vice president of sales and marketing and vice president of raw sugar operations. He graduated with an honors degree in business administration from Concordia University in Montreal. Makin succeeds Jack Lay as president of Domino Sugar. Lay announced his retirement from the company on Dec. 3, following nearly 40 years of service.
 Tate & Lyle also announced that Robert Satola will succeed Makin as president of Redpath Sugars effective Jan. 1, 1992. Satola, 49, presently serves as vice president of Grocery and Foodservice Products of Domino Sugar. He has been affiliated with Domino for 23 years, and formerly served as vice president of industrial sales and general sales manager. Satola holds a B.S. degree in psychology from Northwestern University.
 The appointments were announced by Murray McEwen, managing director of North American Sugar for Tate & Lyle. Said McEwen, "Our ability to call upon experienced managers within our organization to take on these important roles is a testament to the strength of our company's management team in North America. We are confident that Makin and Satola will continue to contribute greatly to our industry leading efforts."
