TARRANT HAS HEART SCARE; EXCLUSIVE I blame stress, he says.
CHRIS Tarrant is recovering from a heart scare two days after his 60th birthday.
The Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? star was taken to hospital after feeling ill during a fishing trip.
Chris was with friends catching salmon on the River Tweed when he had what he thought were palpitations.
He called a doctor who told him to go to hospital.
He spent the night wired up to a heart monitor in a private hospital near Kelso but was released next day after doctors assessed his cardiogram.
He has been under strain after the collapse of his 15 year marriage to Ingrid and at reaching 60 with his life in turmoil.
Chris told the Mirror last night: "Both my mum and late dad had heart problems and when I felt a flutter, which was obviously caused by my continuing stress-related lifestyle, I panicked. I cannot begin to tell you how relieved I am that I have been given the 100 per cent all clear."
A close friend said: "He was 100 per cent OK. He was back on the river by 9.30am."
Last month, Chris was spotted canoodling in a bar with a blonde. Ingrid, 51, dismissed it as "a storm in a teacup" but began divorce proceedings two weeks ago after it emerged he had an affair with teacher Fiona McKechnie.
He was also said to be feeling down at turning 60.
Ingrid said recently: "It's been hard for him to accept. That's why he was reluctant to mark it."
