TARGET CREATES HOLIDAY PROMOTION RIGHT OUT OF THE MOVIES; HOLIDAY THEME AND EXCLUSIVE MERCHANDISE ARE A TRIBUTE TO 'IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE'
MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Target kicks off its nationwide holiday promotion Thanksgiving weekend with a tribute to the 1946 movie classic, "It's a Wonderful Life." The campaign features two of country music's top performers and many items that are exclusive to Target, including a porcelain Bedford Falls village, 30 value-priced "Great Gifts," a try-before-you-buy toy event, a new plush Baby Lamb Chop and an attractive selection of merchandise with the "It's a Wonderful Life" theme. In-store promotions will be integrated with broadcast and print ads. A national television commercial will feature Trisha Yearwood and Vince Gill performing their new Christmas single, "Another Angel Gets Its Wings." The commercial includes vignettes of families interspersed with excerpts from the movie "It's a Wonderful Life." The cassette recording of this song is being given away only at Target as a gift-with-purchase to anyone who buys the latest albums released by Yearwood or Gill. The music video of this single is also a trailer to special versions of the "It's a Wonderful Life" videotape, available only at Target. Target is carrying the "It's a Wonderful Life" theme through to dozens of exclusive holiday items, including the six-piece Bedford Falls porcelain village. The village includes six light-up buildings: Gower Drug Store and Soda Fountain, the Old Granville House, Bijou Theatre, Bailey Building and Loan, the chapel and train station. Shoppers will be able to find everything they need to re-create the Bedford Falls village at home with snow, street lights, trees, train signals, and the sign welcoming visitors to Bedford Falls. Target will also sell wrapping paper and glass ornaments, each featuring photos from the movie. Guests who are looking for the perfect gift can find, among other things, snow globes, cookie jars and popcorn tins featuring "It's a Wonderful Life." Other special holiday gift offerings include Target's exclusive "Great Gifts," a collection of 30 functional and trend-right items priced from $5 to $30 and ready to wrap. "Great Gifts" are perfect for those hard-to-buy-for people on everyone's gift list, and include a broad range of items for home, car, kitchen, workshop, office and travel.
