TAPPI paper machine performance survey: free machine analysis for all participants.

Mills looking for ways to improve paper machine performance with little or no capital expenditure are invited to participate in the TAPPI Paper Machine Performance Survey. This confidential survey will compare your machine's performance to similar machines in the industry and to TAPPI Paper Machine Performance Guidelines, TIP 0404-47. All participants in the free and confidential survey will receive a copy of the summary results as well as a Free Machine Analysis by TAPPI Fellow Dick Reese.

To participate in the Paper Machine Performance Survey, simply enter your machine's performance data in the online survey on www.tappi.org. In July, go to the "What's New" section on the TAPPI home page and click on the Survey link. All of the information you'll be asked to provide is generic. You will not be asked to include company names or machine numbers. The survey results will also be summarized in a future issue of Solutions!

The first step in improving performance is to evaluate existing equipment and machine operation. TAPPI TIP 0404-47, Paper Machine Performance Guidelines Technical Information Paper, includes performance guidelines for liner, corrugating medium, fine paper, newsprint, and bag. In addition, many other TAPPI TIPs include performance guidelines. For additional information on the Paper Machine Performance Survey, please contact Dick Reese at (770) 448-8002 or rareese@bellsouth.net.
