TAM reports financial and operational results for first quarter 2009.
Brazilian airline TAM (BOVESPA: TAMM4) (NYSE: TAM) has reported its financial and operational results for the first quarter of 2009.
TAM recorded a net income for the quarter of BRL56.9m, with total cash and cash equivalents of BRL1,085m.
For domestic operations, TAM's demand (revenue passenger kilometres) rose by 4.5% in the first quarter 2009, compared with the same period of last year, while domestic capacity (available seat kilometres) showed an increase of 15.5%, resulting in a domestic load factor of 64.2%, a decrease of 6.7 percentage points.
International demand rose by 10.5% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2009, while international capacity grew by 18.5%, resulting in an international load factor of 71.6%, down 5.2 percentage points.
