TALKER TERROR; EXCLUSIVE.
MI5 is recruiting Arabs who can speak obscure dialects - to help outwit terrorist "Windtalkers".
Al Qaida sends coded messages in little-known languages to baffle any eavesdropper.
The technique was spotlighted in the 2002 Nicolas Cage movie Windtalkers in which Navajo indians talk in their own language on the radio to confuse the Japanese. The Security Service is seeking linguists who understand all Arab dialects and languages such as Sorani and Pushto.
A senior Whitehall security source said: "The terrorists we are up against sometimes speak in dialects used by very few people.
"We need experts who can understand them and crack codes they are using."
Linguists hired by MI5 earn will earn pounds 22,750 a year but need to apply within the next 10 days. They will be under strict orders not to tell anyone except their partner and immediate family about the job.
One expert in MI5's language centre said: "We are beginning to hear unfamiliar Arabic dialects on some targets' telephone lines."
