TAKREEM ceremony 2012 celebrates Arab achievements, makes 350 million Arabs proud.

NNA - For the third consecutive year, TAKREEM highlights and celebrates Arab Achievements during an exclusive ceremony at the Cultural Hall in Manama, under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty the King of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad Ibn Issa Al Khalifa, in association with Kingdom of Bahrain Ministry of Culture, prominent Arab Achievers were honored for their outstanding accomplishments.

The 2012 Laureates, selected by the respected TAKREEM International Jury Board comprising of Her Majesty Queen Noor Al Hussein, Her Excellency Sheikha Mai Al Khalifa, Dr. Nouha Al Hegelan, His Excellency Mr. AndrA' Azoulay, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed El Baradei, His Excellency Dr. Lakhdar Brahimi, Mr. Carlos Ghosn, Mr. Marc Levy, Mr. Amin Maalouf, Her Excellency Dr. Leila Sharaf and Mr. Raja Sidawi, were: " TAKREEM Award for Philanthropy and Charitable Services: SESOBEL - Lebanon " TAKREEM Award for Scientific and Technological Achievement: Nagy Habib - Egypt " TAKREEM Award for Innovation in Education: A.M. Qattan Foundation - Palestine " TAKREEM Award for Environmental Development and Sustainability: The Shouf Biosphere Reserve - Lebanon " TAKREEM Award for Cultural Excellence: Samia Zaru - Jordan " TAKREEM Arab Woman of the Year Award: Magda ElSanousi - Sudan " TAKREEM Young Entrepreneur Award: Habib Haddad - Lebanon " TAKREEM Award for Outstanding Corporate Leader: Saad Abdullatif - Palestine " TAKREEM Award for Exceptional Contribution to Arab Society: Actes Sud - Sindbad Publishing - France A special tribute was made in memory of the late Anthony Shadid, correspondent for The New York Times and originally Lebanese, who left us this year at the age of 43, for revealing the real spirit of Middle Easterners and for dismantling the Western stereotypes of the Arab world.

A special distinction was awarded to former USA President Jimmy Carter for his work in advancing human rights and his endeavors in establishing peace in the Middle East.

The Lifetime Achievement Award, established to acknowledge inspiring individuals whose pioneering spirit and lifelong dedication have had a significant impact on society, was given to His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan the United Arab Emirates Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

This memorable evening was hosted by Al Jazeera anchorwoman Laila Al-Shaikhli, and graced by the presence of five hundred distinguished Arab and international personalities.

A press conference took place the next day, at Bahrain National Museum, where members of the media and others met with the 2012 Award Laureates.

TAKREEM Initiative was given valuable support by leading organizations whose practices in the area of corporate social responsibility reflect TAKREEM's aspirations and reinforce its principles. Supporting partners for the 2012 TAKREEM Arab Achievement Awards include: " TOTAL SA " Renault -Nissan Alliance " Consolidated Contracting Company (CCC) " Salam International " Al-Sumaria " Khaled Juffali Company Founded by renowned media figure, Ricardo Karam, TAKREEM is an initiative committed to shaping a positive perception of Arabs globally and to inspiring both present and future generations to contribute to society's advancement in all fields.
