TAITRA chairman Wang Chih-kang elected as WTCA board director.

Taipei, Oct. 13, 2010 (CENS)--Wang Chih-kang, chairman of Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) yesterday (Oct. 12) was elected as a board director of the World Trade Center Association (WTCA).

This is the first time for WTCA to reshuffle board directors through direct election from its 300-odd members worldwide since its establishment 41 years ago. Wang is one of the 16 new board directors chosen from a total of 37 contenders. Wang's assumption of the position is expected to help Taiwan increase exposure in the world trade arena.

WTCA was founded in 1970 with 16 founding members. At present the organization has seen the number of members increase to 350 from over 90 economic entities. TAITRA joined the WTCA as a formal member in 1981.

Over the past several years, TAITRA have been active in conducting trade promotion activities, hoping to bring in more business opportunities for Taiwanese merchants via active interchanges with the WTCA.
