T-29 matchless variety of carrot.
LAHORE -- Carrot T-29 variety is certified and its production capacity is 16 to 20 maund per acre of land.
Punjab Agriculture sources disclosed this while talking to reporter on Sunday.
The sources said that Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Lahore and Jhang were those districts of Punjab which produced quality carrots.
T-29 variety of carrot is matchless because of its colour, appearance, size and taste. Carrot growers were suggested to complete the early sowing from mid of September to end of October, they added.
"Seven to 23 degrees centigrade temperature was conducive for the growth of carrot seed and for obtaining good quality carrots soft, fertile loam soil levelled with laser leveller was required", they added.
The sources said carrot was a root crop so the land should be prepared properly in depth.
Combine use of nitrogen and phosphorous yield positive results on production so during preparation of the land two sacks of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) and one sack of Potash should be used on per acre of land.
Farmers could seek more guidance from the agriculture department of their areas, the sources said.
