Sysmex, Otsuka Pharmaceutical to Collaborate in Sales of Influenza Rapid Diagnostic Kit.

Tokyo, Japan, Aug 2, 2005 - (JCNN) - Sysmex announced on August 1 that it has signed a contract with Otsuka Pharmaceutical to jointly market POCTEM Influenza A/B, Sysmex's proprietary influenza diagnosis product.

Under the three-year contract, the two companies will jointly promote and market POCTEM in Japan with a view to becoming No.1 in the market.

They aim to achieve 5 billion yen ($45 mil) in sales in fiscal 2007. Released in 2003, POCTEM Influenza A/B can simultaneously detect influenza A and B in about 15 minutes. One unit (for 10 tests) is likely to retail for 14,000 yen ($125).
