Syrian Negotiator: Unrests Soon to End.
"I am optimistic. We have lived through 80% of seditious events in Syria, and we are not far from total victory," Dr. Ali Al-Shuaibi, a tribal leader and a Syrian government representative in negotiations with the oppositions, told FNA in Damascus.
"We have no doubt that victory belongs to the Syrian nation," Shuaibi said, and reiterated that the country will soon get rid of unrests and come back to normal life.
The remarks by the Syrian figure came days after US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton claimed on Friday that Syria was at the risk of a civil war.
Yesterday, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Mualem also dismissed as "wishful thinking" the remarks by Hillary Clinton.
"When Mrs. Clinton says the opposition is well-armed...it is, as they say in English, 'wishful thinking'," Mualem told the news conference.
Syria experienced unrest for several months with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.
The government blamed outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest was orchestrated from abroad.
Last month, calm was eventually restored in the Arab state after President Bashar al-Assad started a reform initiative in the country, but the US and Israeli plots could spark some new unrests in certain parts of the country.
