Syrian Army Recaptures Several New Areas Around Aleppo-Raqqa Highway.
The army units took control of the village of Haniteh-Anbaj after recapturing key oilfields and al-Karadi, Akhu Hadleh, Jeb al-Sa'ad and Rasm Amoun in Raqqa province.
The recaptured regions are located on both sides of Ithriya-Raqqa international highway and the Syrian army is now only 20 kilometers from al-Tabbaqa military airport.
The military sources, meantime, disclosed that the Syrian army will not move towards al-Tabbaqa airport at present because the Syrian army's current mission is to purge the ISIL terrorists from the Southern and Northern regions of the ancient city of al-Rasafeh as well as the town of al-Koum deep into Badiyeh (desert) and then besiege the ISIL in the town of al-Sukhna to eventually move to break the siege of Deir Ezzur.
The Syrian army troops had earlier managed to reach the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) through the Euphrates river from Abu Assi and Shoeib al-Zekr in Western al-Tabbaqa towards al-Rasafeh-Raqqa road.
In a relevant development on Sunday, the Syrian army backed by the country's air force continued its military advances in the Western part of Raqqa and managed to take full control of over 10 regions.
The Syrian army troops took control of the towns of Banr al-Jaeq, Banr Mousa al-Hendi and Bahr Abu Hamat after fierce clashes with the ISIL terrorists in Western Raqqa.
The army forces also managed to recapture the towns of Mazafeh Awijan Bu Khamis, Banr al-Sadran, Akhu Hadleh, Haj Mofazi, Banr al-Adad, Banr Abu al-Sanabel, Banr al-Amaleh and Rajm al-Amaleh hill West of the strategic city of al-Rasafeh.
The Syrian fighter jets also heavily pounded the military positions and movements of the ISIL in the surrounding areas of Bir Abu Kobra and Jonub al-Nashmi as well as al-Karawi village and Al-Rasafeh town which resulted in the death and injury of tens of ISIL terrorists and destruction of a large number of their military vehicles.
Meantime, a military source also pointed to the Syrian forces' advances towards the strategic al-Rasafeh city, and said that the Syrian army will cut the supply lines of the ISIL between Raqqa and Badieyh (desert) once it comes in control of al-Rasafeh.
In a relevant development on Saturday, the Syrian army continued its advances in Western Raqqa and managed to recapture new areas as there are reports that the ISIL leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been killed in the Russian airstrikes.
The Syrian army units moved towards other ISIL-controlled regions and managed to seize back several other areas after taking full control of four strategic oilfields of al-Habari, al-Thawrah, Sefyan and al-Safih in Western Raqqa.
The Syrian troops also continued their advances from South of Ithriya-al-Rasafeh-al-Raqqa highway in Southwestern Raqqa and managed to take control of several villages, including Saharij al-Wahab, Jub al-Afadous, Jub Mushrefeh and Rajm al-Hareh.
Also on Friday, the Syrian army troops continued their advances in Raqqa, and managed to capture a strategic oilfield in the Southwestern part of the province.
"The army units regained control of three oilfields in Raqqa province on Thursday, and they captured al-Habari oilfield on Friday," the Arabic-language al-Mayadeen TV news network reported.
The capture of al-Habari comes as the Syrian army troops took control of al-Thawrah, Sefyan and al-Safih oilfields.
In a relevant development on Thursday, the Syrian Army troops continued their operation in Western Raqqa and managed to drive ISIL out of more energy-rich regions, killing and wounding a number of terrorists.
The army men engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL in Western Raqqa and pushed them away from al-Thawrah oilfield and pumping station.
The army forces also retake control over Sefyan oilfield, the village of Sefyan, al-Safih oilfield and al-Rasafeh crossroad after hours of tough battle with the ISIL.
A military source said by capturing al-Thawrah oilfield, the army troops are now ready to resume military operation towards Raqqa city or towards Ithriya town in Northeastern Hama.
Relevant reports said on Wednesday that the Syrian Air Force launched heavy bombing on ISIL's military convoys and positions in Western Raqqa and Eastern Aleppo, inflicting major losses on them.
Tens of ISIL terrorists were killed or wounded and the group's military hardware and vehicles were damaged in the army air raid on Western Raqqa and Eastern Aleppo.
A military source, meantime, reported that the Syrian Army troops intend to launch a fresh round of anti-ISIL operation towards the town of al-Rasafeh, some 30km away from Raqqa city, via the road that connects Raqqa to the town of Ithriya in Northeastern Hama.
