Symposium on American Indian seeks proposals.

TAHLEQUAH The deadline to submit proposals to present at the 46th annual Symposium on the American Indian has been extended to Jan. 26. The 46th annual Symposium on the American Indian will be April 16-21 on the Northeastern State University campus in Tahlequah. The theme will be Walking with our Ancestors: Preserving Culture and Honoring Tradition. Proposals should focus on cultural preservation, indigenous knowledge, history from an indigenous perspective, intergenerational and historical trauma, tribal sovereignty and language revitalization. The committee will conduct a blind review of each proposal. Proposals are being accepted at offices.nsuok.edu/centerfortribalstudies/NSUSymposium.aspx. The Symposium on the American Indian is a community event. There is no registration fee and events are open to the public. Funding has been provided by the Oklahoma Arts Council and Oklahoma Humanities Council.
