Sylvester F. (Shorty) Long.

Sylvester F. (Shorty) Long retired as president of Dow Corning STI in January but continues to serve as a senior management consultant to the subsidiary through the end of the second quarter. Long was named president of Dow Corning STI in May 1990. Prior to that, he joined the J-Sil division of Jamak, Weatherford, TX, as vice president in 1977. He was named president of that silicone compounding operation in 1980. He retained that office when J-Sil U.S. incorporated as an independent company in 1985. When Dow Chemical acquired J-Sil U.S. and Western Silicone Products in 1986, Long was named executive vice president of operations for the new company. In 1988, he was promoted to chief operating officer and executive vice president of operations.
