Swipe at new card for OAPs.
Byline: By SENAN HOGANIRELAND'S OAPs may soon need swipe cards to collect their pensions, it was claimed yesterday.
Labour TD Kathleen Lynch told the Dail some rural post offices might not have the technology to accept the cards.
She said: "A pensioner told me he will be issued with one when his pension book runs out in September.
"People living in rural areas will have to go to the nearest bank or big town if their local post office is not automated.
"I fear it will cause a lot of stress and inconvenience."
The Cork TD Miss Lynch said she had raised the matter in a parliamentary question to the Social & Family Affairs Minister Martin Cullen.
