Swine flu curable disease, says doctors.

SARGODHA -- Swine flu is a contagious but curable disease and people suffering from chest problems, asthma and heart ailment are particularly vulnerable to catch it.

Dr Sikandar Hayyat, a pulmonologist at DHQ Hospital, talking to reporter said that preventive measures were the best solution to such problem as less rain and prolonged dry spell had spread such virus.

He said that separate cell for dealing with swine flu cases had been established at the DHQ Hospital where patients were fully investigated and provided relevant treatment.

He said that the first case of this disease was brought to notice in 1998.

He said children from the age of six months to five years and elderly people over 60 years were more likely to catch the infection, besides pregnant women and those with weak immune system.

The main symptoms of this disease were influenza, headache and mild fever and blood coming out from mouth and nose, he said.

He suggested to start treatment of swine flu patients with mild medicines while antibiotics should be given in serious cases.
