WS. Robinson Ltd are suppliers of quality equipment to the Sugar Confectionery, Chocolate, Biscuit Manufacturing and Allied Industries.

The company can trace its origins back to the 1890's when the family were confectionery manufacturers in Dublin, Ireland. The late Mr. W.S. Robinson left Ireland in 1926 and soon started the machinery side of the business in London. He moved his business to Derby during the early 1940's and set up W.S. Robinson & Company in Ashbourne, Derbyshire in 1945.

Originally specializing in rebuilding equipment for the confectionery industry, the company has over the years expanded and is now involved in the sale and supply of new machinery for biscuit making and confectionery whilst still maintaining the rebuilding activities.

From Ashbourne the company moved into Derby where it continued to trade until the move in November 1991 into a new purpose built factory at Clover Nook Industrial Park at Alfreton, Derbyshire. General and sales offices, drawing offices and machine shops and stores have been laid out to give an excellent working environment to meet the very highest standards. The site has easy access for transport and extra ground to allow plenty of room for continued expansion in the future.

W.S. Robinson is able to offer individual machines, entire production lines and is capable of undertaking turnkey projects anywhere in the world, currently exporting to over 60 countries.

All reconditioned machines are fully dismantled, rebuilt, repainted to customers colour requirements and tested before despatch. The reconditioning of machinery often requires replacement of parts which can no longer be obtained from the original makers, or where the machine builder is no longer in business. To overcome this problem, a full machine shop has been set up with CNC equipment to manufacture any replacement parts which are required. All rebuilt equipment supplied by the company carries a full guarantee.

A large stock of machinery is maintained at the factory, and includes every type of machine from mixing equipment, forming machines to wrapping and packing.

W.S. Robinson also represent a number of internationally recognised quality machine builders offering such equipment as Chocolate Enrobers, Chocolate Refiners, Moulding Machines, Tempering Machines, Biscuit Machinery, Sugar Cone Machines, Lollipop Forming and Wrapping Machines, Feeders for Toffees, Candies and Bubble-Gum, Lozenge Plants, indeed everything that could be required by the confectionery and biscuit industries for processing the product.

The new machinery division of the company specialise in manufacturing and supplying equipment such as Biscuit Cream Sandwiching Machines, Biscuit Feed Units, Stackers etc. as well as Die Cleaning Machines for Hard Candy Rotary Dies.

Tony Robinson, the Managing Director, has over 30 years experience in the industry with a wealth of knowledge of the industry and is backed up by long serving staff both in the offices and factory.

The factory is centrally located in the United Kingdom and can easily be reached by car, plane or train, being only a few minutes from the M1 Motorway, and within a short distance of Derby British Rail Station as well as the East Midlands Airport.
