NORDIC BUSINESS REPORT-9 June 2008-Swedish technology company Opcon AB acquires Danish patient lifting systems maker Balle A/S(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

Swedish energy and environmental technology company Opcon AB (OMX Stockholm:OPCO) said on Monday (9 June) that its subsidiary REAC has agreed to acquire the Danish company Balle A/S for an undisclosed sum.

Balle, based in Herning, Denmark, develops, manufactures and sells patient lifting systems for the hospital and health care sectors in Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy and the US. The company has 16 employees and reported a turnover of DKK14.5m in 2006/2007.

The acquisition is part of Opcon's growth strategy for its Mobility Products business area, providing a base for continued growth while strengthening the product portfolio.

Opcon, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, develops, produces and markets systems and products for eco-friendly, efficient and resource-effective use of energy. The company has some 365 employees in Sweden and China and reported sales of SEK336m in 2007.

One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 9.35 Danish kroner (DKK). One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 11.68 Swedish kronor (SEK).
