Coast guards in Gotland, Sweden reportedly had to destroy 23 birds injured by oil during the weekend (19-20 January).

The birds were apparently discovered on Saturday along a stretch of the coast but it is not known what caused the oil damage or where the oil came from, according to Gotlands Tidningar, a Swedish newspaper.

Some of the dead birds will probably be sent away for tests.
