Swedish technology company Hexagon AB said on Wednesday (25 July) that it has agreed to acquire the German geomatics dealer Gesswein GmbH for an undisclosed sum.
Gesswein, based in Karlsruhe, sells surveying products in southwestern Germany and has annual sales of EUR1m. The company is also a long-term partner of Hexagon's German subsidiary, Leica Geosystems Germany.
Hexagon said that it plans to merge Leica Geosystems' activities in the region with Gesswein, and to set up a sales and support office at Gesswein's current facilities in Karlsruhe.
"Gesswein has an excellent reputation in the region and the combined efforts of Leica Geosystems and the Gesswein organisation will enable Hexagon to provide even better service and support to the market," Hexagon said in a press release.
As part of the transaction Hexagon will take over all employees of Gesswein.
Hexagon, headquartered in Nacka Strand, Sweden, is a global measurement technologies and polymers company with 8,000 employees in 30 countries and with net sales of approximately SEK13.5bn. The company is listed on the Nordic Exchange in Stockholm.
One British pound (GBP) is worth approximately 13.61 Swedish kronor (SEK).
