Swat win overall trophy of KP Swat Region Inter-District Women Games.

MINGORA -- Swat lifted the overall trophy after securing nine gold medals and four silver medals in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Under-23 Swat Region Inter-District Women Games which concluded here at Makan Bagh ground on Thursday. Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Miss Rashida Ghaznavi was the chief guest on this occasion. Organizing Secretary and District Sports Officer Syed Saqlain Shah, Miss Kokab Khan, EDO Miss Ishrat Khan, officials, players and large number of students spectators were also present.

Swat recorded 110 points by securing first position in nine different disciplines while remained runners-up in four out of 13 Games part of the overall female Games played for three-day at different venues in Swat District under the aegis of Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. District Swat was followed by District Shangla with three gold medal and six silver medal by securing 69 points and Dir Upper took third position respectively with one gold, three silver and four bronze medal by getting 37 points.

The last three events Netball, Basketball and Baseball were organized in played at Govt Girls College Saidu Sharif. More than 450 students from three districts including Shangla, Dir Upper and host Swat took part in 13 different games comprising cricket, football, basketball, baseball, netball, judo, taekwondo, wushu, hockey, table tennis, badminton and squash. In the Basketball event on the last day of the three-day Games the players of Shangla gave a stunning performance by defeating Swat 37-17. Swat took second position. In the football event Swat defeated Shangla by 9-6 while in baseball final Swat beat Shangla by 5-4. In the Table Tennis final Dir Upper defeated Swat by 2-1 while in the Volleyball Swat beat Shangla by 25-21, 25-22 and 25-21. In the Judo Swat took first position, followed by Shangla. In the Wushu and Taekwondo Swat beat Shangla and Dir Upper.

At the end, the chief guest gave away trophies and cash prize. The winners got Rs. 15000 and Rs. 10000.
