Swapping icing job for ingots.

Michelle Brown is finding her new post at aluminium smelting plant Alcan, at Lynemouth, is a piece of cake.

For the 26-year-old from Cramlington has left behind a similar role with Ashington cake decoration maker Culpitt to develop her career.

Michelle has joined the procurement team at Alcan and will be dealing with documentation for all shipping and transport activities and will also be involved in the general procurement for the smelter and power station.

Michelle said: "I haven't been here very long, but am thoroughly enjoying my new job .

"Although it involves the same working principles as my previous position, it is a completely different product and I am sure it will prove to be a challenging role.

"Everyone at Alcan has been extremely helpful and supportive."

John McCabe, corporate affairs manager at Alcan, said: "We are delighted to welcome Michelle to her new position here.

"We are sure she will be an invaluable asset to the procurement team and wish her every success."

Alcan currently employs around 700 members of staff and is the United Kingdom's largest producer of aluminium ingots.
