Swan Lake to premiere in city; PREVIEW.

Swan Lake and children's ballet workshops ALBANY THEATRE, COVENTRY SWAN Lake is Ballet Theatre UK's third production to premiere at Coventry's Albany Theatre.

It follows performances of The Nutcracker last October and a new ballet, The Little Mermaid in March.

Swan Lake will feature new choreography by artistic director Christopher Moore, more than 120 new costumes and stunning sets. The company is also running free Swan Lake-themed ballet workshops for six to 16-year-olds, as part of a reduced family ticket offer.

Theatre manager Adam Durnin said: "As part of Ballet Theatre UK's latest exciting premiere we want to give young dancers a unique chance to get closer to this classic tale of romance, sorcery, and betrayal.

"As well as the workshop with renowned ballet mistress Tania Matos, participants also get the chance to see part of the rehearsals and meet the cast in costume backstage after the first night."

Tania Maos was first introduced to the world of professional classical ballet when, at the age of 13, she was chosen to perform with the New York City Ballet at the Covent Garden Opera House.

She has since had a continuous performing career ranging from corps de ballet through to principal dancer. Her classical lead roles include Giselle, Carmen and Don Quixote. Tania was assistant choreographer and rehearsal director on Oliver Stone's film Alexander and has worked for fashion designer Stella McCartney at The London Fashion Show.

More than 50 young dancers took part in the theatre's last workshop themed on The Little Mermaid ballet.

? Ballet Theatre UK's performance of Swan Lake is on Friday, October 24, at 7.30pm.

Workshops take place at 4.30pm on: October 20 (ages six-10), October 21 (ages 11-13), October 23 (ages 14-16) and October 24 (age group depending on demand).
