Sutton 57 plants a garden.

Sutton 57 LLC has released plans to construct Manhattan's first rooftop moon garden.

The 24-story condominium tower, rising at 212 E. 57th St., will offer its residents a one-of-a-kind evening oasis from the bustling city streets below.

The retreat will contain sweeping crescent-moon and robust full-moon planters with groupings of carefully selected flowers that begin to blossom during the evening. These "night-blooming genuses," which include white liatris, lambs ear and white swan coneflowers, become extraordinarily fragrant and radiate their natural colors when viewed by moonlight. The nighttime plantings will also be interspersed with daytime genuses for beauty throughout the day. Starry-themed upholstered sun-and-moon-bathing chaise lounges, a rain shower for afternoon sunbathers and an extended observation deck will give residents a truly distinctive rendezvous space.

Designed by H. Thomas O'Hara Architect PLLS and ready for occupancy in early 2006, Sutton 57 will house 38 one-, two-, and three-bed room residences, ranging in price from $975,000 to over $3 million.

Residents will be welcomed by a striking lobby clad in hardwood, contrasted by backlit green-glass panels, transitional fixtures and imported stone floors. A plush seating area, 24-hour attended lobby and residents-only fitness center will complete the ground floor. In addition, the property will offer private residents-only storage.

Each residence will feature high ceilings, oversized windows with expansive views and polished Cabreuva hardwood flooring. Gourmet kitchens will feature midnight-black granite countertops, stylish glass-front cabinets with under-cabinet lighting and a vanishing Sub-Zero refrigerator with custom panels to match the cabinetry.

The master baths will have floor-to-ceiling Calacutta Gold honed stone accented with matching mosaic tile. An extra-deep soaking tub, glass-enclosed shower and a Porcher vessel sink with chrome Jado fixtures will complete the baths. Secondary baths will be drenched in a Sand Dune Beige marble throughout and outfitted with custom vanities in polished vanilla marble.
