Suspects in murder of girl to appear in court Wednesday.

The National Head of Criminal Investigation Directorate Commissioner Nelius Becker said the suspects in the murder of a nine-year-old girl was found burnt beyond recognition in a skip in Ooievaar Street Saturday are expected to appear in court on Wednesday.

Speaking at the press briefing, Becker said the investigation is at the early stage and postmodern is not yet done.

'We will confirm if whether the girl was dead or alive when taken to the skip,' said Becker.

He added that one of the suspects is in hospital after sustaining injuries when one of the police vehicle he was transported in overturned outside Otjiwarongo.

'Currently we are busy questioning the two arrested ladies and other children and tomorrow we will have an autopsy,' the Commissioner said.

Becker further said that it is alleged the deceased was assaulted on 20 January 2020 and there a case of abuse reported last year to social workers.

However, Commissioner rubbished rumours that the male suspect was married to the two ladies arrested.

'He only married to one and we still have to establish the relationship of the other lady as we don't have proof,' he said.

On the rumours of ritual killing, the commissioner said no indication of that as no parts were removed from the body.

'This is a secondary way of getting a body away from crime scene,' he said.

The investigator found broken broomsticks and burned clothes in the skip.

The suspects were staying at the premise since December 2018.
