Suspect packages discovered.

TWO suspect packages found in Birmingham this morning brought the city to a standstill

Link roads to the M6 at Spaghetti Junction were sealed off this morning after a holdall sparked a terror alert.

West Midlands Police said they were dealing with the suspect package just before noon. It was found near a support column of the motorway.

The M6 itself was running normally, but all link roads leading to Spaghetti Junction - junction six - were closed as a precaution.

Police were asking drivers to avoid the area if possible, but said there was a lot of traffic at a standstill as a result of the action.

A second suspect package closed the southbound carriagway of the Queensway tunnel - one of the major routes into the city centre.

Police said they had also closed the Great Charlesway and St Chad's tunnels.
