Surf's up for superdog Sam; REMEMBER WHEN.

WHEN it comes to windsurfing, no one is more enthusiastic than Sam, a sevenyear-old cocker spaniel.

As reported in The Evening Chronicle in April 1987, Sam, a seasoned campaigner on a surfboard, sails with his master, Mr Tony Devlin, of Teviotdale Gardens, High Heaton, Newcastle.

At first Sam used to swim out to his master's surfboard, clamber aboard and plane across the lake with him.

But with months of experience behind him, he likes to be aboard at the start.

Mr Devlin said: "He seems to find windsurfing more interesting than waiting at the car park for me to finish. He has always liked the water and he is as happy on a surfboard as he is ashore."
