Supporters in the club - and they're blaming Barca.

MATERNITY wards in Barcelona have reported a surge in demand for beds - and doctors are blaming the city's football club.

According to a survey, the sudden rush for birthing pools and the like coincides with two fine displays from Pep Guardiola's team last season.

Barca beat Real Madrid 6-2 at the Bernabeu on May 2 and followed that up four days later with Andres Iniesta's last-gasp goal at Chelsea to take them through to the Champions League final.

"When we notice some sort of surge we look for the reason.

"And it's evident that the cause of the increase this week is the euphoria of Barca fans thanks to the huge win (against Real) and Iniesta's goal," Mercedes Rodriguez, of the city's Quiron Clinic, was quoted as saying.

And to mark the event, the babies will now be known as the "Iniesta Generation".
