Supply Corps Flags meet.
Held at Fort Belvoir, Va., the conference was kicked off by RADM Stone.
On day one, RDML Raymond Berube provided an Atlantic Fleet update and reviewed Fleet Forces Command's enterprise and alignment initiatives. RDML Jack Prendergast provided the Pacific Fleet perspective.
A Supply System Update included briefings on the Navy's Engineering Resource Planning project from RADM Al Thompson, the impact of Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) recommendations on Naval Inventory Control Point from RDML Mike Roesner, and the impact of the Material Support Initiatives and BRAC on COMFISCS from RDML Bill Kowba.
To start the afternoon session, RADM James Allan discussed the Reserve Zero Based Review (ZBR).
On day two, RDML Prendergast started out with a brief on the relief provided to the December 2004 Southeast Asia tsunami victims in which his office played a key role.
Guest speaker, RADM Joseph A. Maguire, USN, Commander, Naval Special Warfare Command, provided his thoughts on the global war on terror.
Retired Supply Corps flags joined the group at lunchtime where RDML Mark Harnitchek presented hot topics from the Joint Staff.
RADM Stone and RDMLs Roesner and Kowba presented Supply System Transformation topics and RADM Allan provided a recap of the ZBR
RDML Berube presented the Green Flag, designating the newest flag select, to RDML (Sel) Mark Heinrich.
The Unified Exchange Task Force and Task Force Uniform were discussed by RADM Bob Cowley.
RADM Stone wrapped up the briefings with a snapshot of the supply community as it looks today and provided an overview of the Human Capital Strategy launched for moving officer, enlisted and civilian employees towards the workforce of the future.
