Whether you're using it to spend precious time with friends or family or just to finally get those admin jobs sorted, chances are a lot of us will be heading off to a supermarket at some point.

Being a bank holiday, the likes of Sainsbury's, Tesco, Aldi and Lidl will open at different times to usual, so it's well worth checking timings before you head out.

But if an impromptu barbecue is on the cards or a quick dash to the supermarket is likely, stay in the know with our very handy guide to all the major supermarket opening times below.

Supermarket giantTescohas vowed to keep all stores open over the long weekend, however reps at Tesco do advise customers tocheck online via the retailer's websiteto get the most accurate timings for their local branch.

As a guide, Tesco opening hours over the Bank Holiday Weekend will be as follows:

Saturday 24 August - normal opening hours for all stores.

Sunday 25 August - normal opening hours for all stores.

Monday 26 August - Stores in England and Wales will open from 9am to 6pm. All Tesco Metro stores will also open from 9am to 6pm and all Express stores open normal hours. In London and Scotland, Extra and Superstore branches will open from 8am to 10pm.

As a guide, Sainsbury's opening hours over the Bank Holiday weekend will be as follow:

Saturday 24 August - normal opening hours

Sunday 25 August - normal opening hours

Monday 26 August - stores in England and Wales will operate amended trading times on the Bank Holiday, with most major stores open from 8am - 10pm. You can check when your local store will open using thestore locator toolon the supermarket's website.

Waitrose's opening times over the Bank Holiday weekend will vary. We've provided an overview below, however for more details regarding your local branch check theonline store finder.

As a guide, Waitrose opening hours over the Bank Holiday Weekend will be as follows:

Saturday 24 August - normal opening hours.

Sunday 25 August - normal opening hours.

Monday 26 August - The majority of Waitrose shops will be open from 8am to 8pm but shoppers are advised to check timings for local branches using theonline store finder.

Asda has advised us that stores in England and Wales will operate reduced opening times, while Scottish stores will open as normal.

General Asda opening hours this Bank Holiday weekend will be as follows:

Saturday 24 August - operating normal hours.

Sunday 25 August - operating normal hours.

Monday 26 August - Opening and closing times for stores in England and Wales will vary region to region and it's recommend that customerscheck the store locator tool online. Stores in Scotland are operating as normal on Monday.

General Morrisons opening hours this Bank Holiday weekend will be as follows:

Saturday 24 August - normal opening hours for all stores.

Sunday 25 August - normal opening hours for all stores.

Monday 26 August - Majority of stores in England and Wales will open from 8am to 9/10pm. Stores in Scotland will open from 7am.

Normal hours will operate in most major cities and towns, however there will be a few exceptions - and shoppers are advised to checkthe Lidl websiteahead of their visit.

General Lidl opening hours this Bank Holiday weekend will be as follows:

Monday 26 August - stores nationwide will open from 8am to 8pm.

Aldi has advised shoppers that most stores across Northern Ireland, England and Wales will be operating normal trading times until 8pm, while Scottish stores will be open a tad later.

Aldi opening hours on Bank Holiday Monday will be as follows:

Saturday 24 August - All stores in N. Ireland, England and Wales will be open from from 8am to 10pm.

Sunday 25 August - All stores in N. Ireland, England and Wales will be open from 10am to 4pm.

Monday 26 August - All stores in N. Ireland, England and Wales will be open from 8am-8pm.
