Sunday Submissions: Editor-Translator Speed Dating.
At their 40th annual conference, the American Literary Translators Association (ALTA) is bringing back their popular program of "Speed-Dating for Editors and Translators":
According to ALTA:
Interested translators will have the chance to discuss a short sample of their work with an editor from prominent publications, such as Coffee House Press, Words Without Borders , Graywolf Press,the CSU Poetry Center, Open Letter, TheKenyon Review , Amazon Crossing, Tupelo Press, and many more. Translators will be paired with a participating editor for a 10-15 minute mini-meeting to receive feedback on up to two pages of their work. Translators are also welcome to submit guiding questions for specific feedback.
Applications will be accepted through Submittable , andwill open onTuesday August 8, 2017andcloseat11:59pm ESTonFriday September 8, 2017.
They add that,"if the number of applicants exceeds the number of available time slots, consultations will be awarded with preferencetocurrent ALTA membersand bydate of submission(first-come, first-serve)."
ALTA Managing Director Elisabeth Jaquette added over email, "We also have at least two editors with a specific interest in Arabic literature."
