Sunday Mercury Comment: Britain rules the waves again.

IF anybody epitomises the true spirit of the Olympics, it is Steve Redgrave.

The iron man of British rowing collected his fifth gold medal with a typically gutsy performance.

The astonishing Redgrave has captured the imagination of all Britain and given us enormous pride.

Steve got it right when it mattered and a grateful nation should do the same when it comes to saying 'thank you' to a great sportsman.

We would like to stick our oar in and say that only a knighthood is good enough for such a valiant hero.
