Sun Chemical, Heidelberg join forces on projects.

Sun Chemical and Heidelberg are investigating new opportunities of working together in a move that will bring further benefits to customers of these two leading global companies.

Sun Chemical is linking up with Heidelberg on new projects that will have spin-offs for customers around the globe.

Ground-breaking R&D between Heidelberg and Sun Chemical on offset press inking was pivotal to the success of the new Heidelberg 'Anicolor' unit that is an integral part of a new Speedmaster SM 52 four-color press launched at IPEX.

The unit, which has no inking zones, makes it possible to produce even the shortest of runs using standard offset workflow but with significantly higher margins.

"We are working together closely with Sun Chemical and looking at ways of forging new co-operation opportunities that will benefit our customers," Mike Winthrop, who heads up the consumables corporate division of Heidelberg, said. "IPEX seemed an appropriate opportunity to have interesting discussions."

"Our partnership with Heidelberg demonstrates both companies' commitment to advance developments," added Felipe Mellado, corporate vice president, marketing and technology, Sun Chemical Europe. "This innovative breakthrough is one of the most important developments in sheetfed offset press design. We are working together on the next stages of the partnership, and more details will be announced soon."
